Maternity outfit ideas for the third trimester

28 Jun

I’ve been talking maternity clothes with @HonestMummy on Twitter this morning and it reminded me that I’ve not uploaded an outfit post for a while. To be honest, as the bump is rapidly getting bigger I’ve been recycling quite a lot of the same maternity outfits already featured on Little Pea Green or, trying to squeeze into some of my bigger non-maternity clothes (like this H&M dress I wore to work the other day!):

Maternity clothes

Wearing: dress, H&M; shoes, Topshop

Of course, I’d love to stock up the whole Isabella Oliver range but, when you’re having to buy prams, cots, car seats, sterilisers, bottles and baby clothes I just can’t justify that sort of spend on clothes I’ll only wear for a few months.

I’ve mentioned before that Primark has been a godsend for work tops and they’ve got loads of chiffon blouses and shirts for between £5-12 in stock at the moment.

Maternity clothes

Wearing: top, Primark; chinos, GAP; shoes, Office

I’ve also, for the first time this pregnancy started to buy a few maternity tops which, whilst longer and a little more forgiving than ‘normal’ tops still aren’t as blousey and unshapen as quite a few of the maternity ranges I’ve come across. Topshop Maternity and H&M Mama coming up trumps:

Maternity Clothes

Topshop Maternity Neppy Tee – £14.00

Maternity Fashion

Topshop Maternity Herringbone Vest – was £30, now £15

Maternity FashionH&M Mama Shirt – £14.99

Anyone come across any other great maternity clothes that won’t break the bank?

Nursery prints from Elphicks, Columbia Road, London

25 Jun

As regular readers of the blog will know I’m a bit of a sucker for beautiful prints and I’m pleased to share a brilliant find from my recent trip to London – Elphicks Shop on Columbia Road.

If you’ve never been to Columbia Road I can highly recommend it – a beautiful flower market on a Sunday (8am-2pm) and a street ram-packed with antiques, interiors and home shops as well as cafes and art galleries, including the home of famous artist, Rob Ryan, Ryantown. One such interiors shop is Elphicks where I found some perfect prints for Little Pea’s nursery. It took some willpower to hold off buying everything in sight but I did return home with this Animal Party print by Ingela P Arrhenius:

I was of course sorely tempted by the alphabet print too and since, visiting the Elphicks site have found a few other gems you might be interested in:

They’re really unique prints and, at £18 are pretty reasonable, especially considering they’re the perfect size for an IKEA RIBBA.

Happy shopping.

Sneak peak – Jools Oliver’s ‘Little Bird’ collection for Mothercare

24 Jun

In my day job I’m an avid follower of marketing and design blogs such as Econsultancy, FormFiftyFive and Smart Insights.

One of my favourites is packaging design site the dieline, who featured Jules Oliver’s ‘Little Bird’ collection for Mothercare this week. Since the partnership was announced back in February this year I’ve been intrigued to see the end result and, if the packaging is anything to go by we’re in for a real treat.

The press releases and stories to date tell us that the range will include nursery bedding, accessories and newborn and children’s clothing from 0 to 5 years. For me though, most importantly they claim to be creating “a unique mix of high quality, affordable pieces”.

The identity – featuring bird, heart, rainbow and neon elements – are so very cute and I’d rush out and buy the blue bird babygro today if I could.

The Little Bird brand range launches in Mothercare stores across the UK on August 17.

I for one am definitely looking forward to it!

An invite to the Diamond Jubilee Picnic at Buckingham Palace

23 Jun

I’ve been a little lapse in updating Little Pea Green in the last few weeks but, amongst all of life’s horribleness there has also been much happiness. Intent on focusing on the good stuff I thought I’d share a rather fabulous jubilee weekend in London with you all.

The story goes back a few months when I saw a BBC advert for The Diamond Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace. All you had to do was go online and enter your details to be in with a chance of getting one of 10,000 tickets to a celebratory picnic and concert to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 60 years on the throne.

Now, I never win anything but my luck seems to have been in recently so, with nothing to lose I applied and, would you blooming well believe it, I got a pair of tickets! Hop, step and jump forward to the first weekend in June and Mr G and I were queuing along with 10,000 others for a weekend of a lifetime.

I could go on but, it seemed fitting to let the pictures do the talking (unfortunately the tickets said we couldn’t take cameras (although annoyingly tons of people did) so you’ll have to rely on my Instagram memories instead).

What an amazing weekend!

With love
