My nursery moodboard

10 Aug

As Little Pea’s arrival is imminent I need to get my ideas in order for the nursery. As soon as the plaster dries on the walls Mr G needs to be briefed and ready for turning my ideas into reality. Pulling together a moodboard from all my interior decor blog posts as well as my pinterest boards seemed as good a place as any and, why not use this blog to store it.

So, Mr G, please could I have the following:

Wall colour

Still unsure whether to go for grey or white walls:

Either would work really well with some of the accessories I’ve bought (more on those later) but, if we go for white I can always liven the room up with some of these amazing wallpapers further down the line:

Mobiles and bunting

Having seen quite a few bird mobiles on etsy in recent months I’ve bought a book of origami paper from Paperchase and will be attempting to recreate some of these beautiful examples of my own:

I’ve also taken the lead from the bunting and garlands in the following shots to buy the garland from Bodie and Fou:

ABC’s

I’ve also decided I’m a bit of a sucker for ABC displays:

And have plumped for these fabulous plates from Rockett St George which I’ll be either pegging up or sewing together like the vintage card garland on one of my previous nursery decorating blog posts.

Prints

And, last but not least, I’ve already collected quite a few prints which will add to the overall final finish:

P.S

Appreciate reading won’t be our top priority straight away but, just in case I forget, I’d love to create a book wall/play area just like these:

Can’t wait to get stuck in!

Nursery prints from Elphicks, Columbia Road, London

25 Jun

As regular readers of the blog will know I’m a bit of a sucker for beautiful prints and I’m pleased to share a brilliant find from my recent trip to London – Elphicks Shop on Columbia Road.

If you’ve never been to Columbia Road I can highly recommend it – a beautiful flower market on a Sunday (8am-2pm) and a street ram-packed with antiques, interiors and home shops as well as cafes and art galleries, including the home of famous artist, Rob Ryan, Ryantown. One such interiors shop is Elphicks where I found some perfect prints for Little Pea’s nursery. It took some willpower to hold off buying everything in sight but I did return home with this Animal Party print by Ingela P Arrhenius:

I was of course sorely tempted by the alphabet print too and since, visiting the Elphicks site have found a few other gems you might be interested in:

They’re really unique prints and, at £18 are pretty reasonable, especially considering they’re the perfect size for an IKEA RIBBA.

Happy shopping.

31 May

In the last few months there seems to have been an influx of baby showers and new baby arrivals so I’ve been busy trying to finding innovative, unique and affordable baby gifts. More often than not I’ve found it’s easiest to ask Mum and Dad what they’d like rather than being inundated with numerous rattles, money boxes or babygros they don’t need but, luckily I’ve found some really lovely presents.

So, based on my latest purchases and those of my friends, here’s a round-up of Little Pea Green’s top 10 new baby gift ideas (all live links for easy shopping!):

  10. And last but not least, a little cheeky gift for those new parents with a sense of humour! Circus print from Bodie and Fou –  £35

Love Disney? Then you’ll love these modern poster designs

10 Apr

If you’re into film, theatre, music or fashion and haven’t come across TQS Magazine you’re missing a fair treat. Run by my pal Jamie McHale (twitter: @jamie_mchale) they’ve been getting quite a bit of press recently for featuring these beautiful Disney poster designs from graphic designer Rowan Stocks-Moore (twitter: @rowansm).

Admittedly the Bambi and the Lion King posters might be a bit too scary but I did think the others posters would make a great addition to a children’s bedroom – the detail is amazing. And, the good news is that after all the requests he’s been getting, Rowan has taken the hint and set up an etsy shop (live today) so you can purchase any of the prints at the bargain price of £12.96.

All prints are numbered, limited edition and at 12×17 (30.3 cm x 42.6 cm) are perfect for framing or wall-mounting.

All I’m waiting for now is for Rowan to start selling his classic book cover series – how wonderful would this The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe print be?

Beautiful abacus print for the nursery

31 Mar

Last year we spent six months renovating our new house. I became an Elle Decoration and Living etc addict (I still have piles and piles of old editions around the house) but also found some fabulous interiors blogs.

One particular gem is Arthur & Martha, run by one of the Elle Decoration team, which showcases some great products and interiors ideas that importantly, don’t cost a fortune.

I’ve bought all sorts for the house after seeing it on this site but recently came across a print from Pretty Dandy which would be perfect for the baby’s nursery. At £24.50 for an A3 handprinted graphic its pretty reasonable and can be framed in a simple IKEA frame and could be framed alongside the ‘Dominoes’ and ‘Boxes’ prints avaliable from the same artist.

To be fair I’m not sure if it’s going to make it upstairs. It’s been framed and currently up in the dining room where it looks pretty smart!
